Asphalt Applied to Gravel Pathway at the New Visitor Center

The gravel walkway leading from Parking Lot#3 to the new Visitor Center has finally received asphalt. The road is the connecting road leading from the Baltimore Pike to the Taneytown Road. The permanent looking sign describing why the path cannot be paved is now outdated. This view was taken from the northeast facing southwest at approximately 9:45 AM on Sunday, September 7, 2008.

Landscaping, and paving around the new Visitor Center at Gettysburg National Military Park is still being completed before the Grand Opening on September 26, 2008. The sidewalk leading from Lot #3 to the Visitor Center received asphalt this week instead of being a gravel pathway. We are now approaching the Visitor Center, and the intersection with the path on the left leading to Meade's Headquarters. This view was taken from the northwest facing southeast at approximately 12:30 PM on Sunday, September 7, 2008.

After passing the intersection of the paths, we have turned around and looked back at their junction. The path on the left is the one which we have taken from Parking Lot #3. We were walking toward this camera position. The path on the right leads to Meade's Headquarters on the Taneytown Road.
